Abacus Property Group, owner of Market Central Lutwyche, purchased the Centre in October 2015 as part of its super convenience retail strategy to develop shopping centres that deliver a full range of supermarket, food and service offerings that is curated for the demographic and growing population in the area. Shortly after acquisition the Group lodged a development application seeking to enhance the centre’s convenience attributes, while also upgrading amenity, to provide convenient car parking, parent rooms and upgraded public areas in addition to medical healthcare and childcare services on site. Following approval, development activities commenced in 2017 and are on track for completion in mid 2019. These major capital works will substantially improve the convenience and everyday shopping experience for the local community.

Centre Manager David Smith has said, "We are thrilled to be able to share with our local community the brand new, 3500m2, full line Woolworths supermarket, which joined the Market Central family on 21 November 2019. Woolworths complements the existing Coles and ALDI supermarket offers. Adding to the excitement is a number of new faces joining the tenant roster, including The Source Bulk Foods, Ha'ne Suhi and Papilio Early Learning Centre, which is home to more than 100 toddlers. Later this year will see the opening of the new fresh food marketplace which is currently being constructed.”
